Mohammad Moein Moghami has been active in the field of media coverage for several years and has recently continued his career in the international field and has been producing television programs for foreign countries, according to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s audio and television website. We arranged a conversation on the occasion of the journalist’s day as follows:
How did you start journalism and media activities?
Mohammadmoein Maghami: First of all, I thank you for addressing the issues of journalists and media activists. I entered the training courses for the journalists’ club and after completing these courses, and simultaneously with the encouragement of my professors, I became more interested in joining the field, and eventually I entered the journalism professionally. Although I was studying mechanical engineering at the same time, I went to the journalists’ club for introductory courses, newsletters, television news and talks techniques, and after completing the tests in this series, I began to work in the political group of journalists club.
Tell us about your TV shows?
Mohammadmoein Maghami: Television journalism is the simultaneous use of audio, video and text abilities. The person who carries out television journalism should be able to apply all his skills well and ultimately present the work that will provide the most impact to his (her) viewers. Of course, TV shows have their own hardship. The reporter should present an artistic image of society’s concerns in order to reach the maximum audience.
How can a journalist be influential?
Mohammadmoein Maghami: “Careful attention to the issues around it” is one of the most important factors. Perhaps there is a problem and many people cross it every day, but the reporter should not be able to pass through various phenomena. Of course this is part of the story. The reporter should study very well, at least in the area he is working on, he must know all aspects. It must have an analysis of the past and future of its field of activity.
Do you also announce live TV shows, it’s harder to broadcast television or journalism?
Mohammadmoein Maghami: Yes. The programs I announced were social, cultural and sports news programs. Journalism is a very sensitive job. A reporter should have an active presence in all events, and this can be very difficult under different circumstances. But TV shows have their own techniques. It’s not easy to assume. For a good television performance, in the news section, there must be several factors under control and there should be a well coordinated team. The host himself (herself) must also have the ability to control the situation, because live television does not have an opportunity to edit. I think concentration is the most important issue for a presenter. If you miss a moment about what you are supposed to say, your focus may be worst. So, both journalism and TV shows can be hard.
And producing?
Mohammadmoein Maghami: Producing is very comprehensive. The producer is actually responsible for the program. If there is a problem, it is the responsibility of the producer. Therefore, the producer must have a general knowledge of all the important issues in the work. We must get enough information from sound recording, lighting, editing, writing, imaging, graphics, directing and performing.
What is the most important priority in the field of producing?
Mohammadmoein Maghami: Perhaps the most important priority is now to use new methods in preparing programs. Today, the use of new technologies in the production of the program is very necessary. Applying new ways to produce programs can greatly improve quality.
Thank you for participating in this conversation. Congratulations to you and your colleagues on the reporter’s day.
Thank you.
